Client Money Protection (CMP) is a scheme that reimburses landlords and tenants if a letting agent misappropriates or otherwise misuses the rent, deposits or other client money it holds on their behalf. It is a legal requirement in England for letting and managing agents who handle client money to belong to a Government-approved CMP scheme, and to provide proof of that membership.

A copy of our Client Money Protection certificate is available on request and is displayed at our office. We renew our membership annually so that your money is protected for as long as we hold it.

How We Protect Your Money

In addition to holding CMP membership, we keep client money — such as rent and deposits — separate from our own business funds in a dedicated client account. Tenancy deposits we are instructed to protect are registered with a Government-authorised tenancy deposit protection scheme within the timescales required by law. Together, these arrangements mean your money is safeguarded while it is in our care.

If you are a landlord or tenant dealing with us, CMP gives you confidence that, in the unlikely event that client money is lost through misappropriation, you can claim reimbursement through the scheme.
